Emotional Freedom Techniques

EFT or Emotional Freedom Techniques has been described as emotional acupuncture.  Tapping on certain meridian points on the body while tuning into a negative emotion enables you to release the negative emotion.  Based on anecdotal evidence, EFT has helped many thousands of people find relief from their symptoms and improve their overall physical and mental well being.

EFT has been referred to as "emotional accupressure" by its creator Gary Craig.  It works on the principle that all negative emotions are caused by a disruption in the body's energy system.  Since energy is the vital force that determines our well being, it is important to promote the free flow of energy throughout our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual selves.  When the energy disruption is released, the client will notice a lessening of the symptom and a lighter feeling overall.  When negative energy is released, the negative emotion goes with it.

EFT works on a wide variety of problems including:

  • physical pain
  • insomnia
  • addictions
  • over/undereating
  • phobias
  • PTSD
  • depression
  • anxiety
  • public speaking fear
  • nightmares
  • much more

EFT is highly effective in restoring calm and ease of mind.  It targets the source of negative energy which is a disruption in the body's energy system.  By tapping on specified acupuncture points, negative emotions dissolve away.  Many people report insights and cognitive shifts about the situation.  They see things differently and look at the situation from a new perspective.  EFT takes seconds to perform and it is easy to learn.  Even children can do it.  It is not even necessary to disclose what is bothering you. We can work on what you are feeling and release the negative emotions that way.

The important thing to remember is that with EFT change is often incremental. Using this process, the mind will not truly understand what is happening.  It won't understand why it doesn't think as negatively as it used to.  With straight talk therapy, the mind is the main player.  With EFT, we include the mind, but we acknowledge that there's another, generally overlooked piece to the puzzle, and that's the blocked energy stored in the body from negative experiences in the past.

As this blocked energy is released with accupressure (tapping), mind chatter or self talk reverts back to a more positive mode.  Is is so easy that some people don't even think the EFT has made a difference.  They just think the problem cleared up on its own because they are suddenly thinking and acting differently. That's the beauty of EFT.  When the negative energy dissipates, so do all the other negative ramifications of it.  Things revert back to normal and the problem just seems to "go away."

The important thing is to keep doing the statements regardless of whether your mind likes doing them or not.  Regular tapping on your own is a powerful adjunct to the work done in session.  It will speed your progress and bring about the changes you want even faster.

Channelled Surrogate EFT

After a session I find that I continue to receive intuitive insights into a client's situation that would be of great benefit for them to know about and release. But unfortunately the session is over.  That doesn't mean though that the opportunity for healing has ended.  As a way of maximizing the energy that continues to flow through even after the session is finished, I offer channelled surrogate EFT.  For up to a week after a session, I will continue to tap on information that I get regarding the specific blocks in the struggle facing the client.  This is of great benefit to the client because they experience shifts in the way they perceive the situation which allows them to take think differently and take different actions (which will lead to a new and better result).  I also send an email to notify them of the issues tapped on and offer further tapping sequences for them to follow up on at home.
